Richard Stock, Trustee / Engine Officer presented a talk on the reason why we wanted a share of £25,000 from Thetford Town Council.
The public voted and, later in that year the museum received some great news that we had been award our requested amount of £5000
Since our closing day last October, the volunteers have been working hard for the new café to be ready for our season opening day on Sunday 20th April 2025

UNLOCKING THETFORD’S POTENTIAL FUND
We are pleased to confirm that your organisation has been short-listed for the Unlocking Thetford’s Potential Fund, which has a sum of £25,000 to distribute.
The Council is using a participatory budgeting process to allocate the Fund amongst the various applicant organisations. What this means is that Thetford residents will be able to vote for the organisations they wish to receive a share of the funding available. The organisations that receive the most votes will receive a share of the Fund up to a maximum allocation of £5,000 per organisation.
The public meeting at which residents will vote is scheduled for Thursday 16th May 2024 at 7.00pm in the Carnegie, Cage Lane, Thetford. Applicant organisations will be allocated up to 5 minutes to outline what they will do with the funding to the members of the public in attendance. Thereafter residents, who will have 5 votes each, will vote for their preferred recipient organisations.
